french broad

The French Broad is our closest floatable water here in Asheville, NC.

Famously known as one of the oldest rivers in the world, the French Broad starts as a small mountain trout stream in its upper reaches in Pisgah National Forest and flows north through the heart of Asheville where it transitions into a quality smallmouth river.

Downstream from town, the French Broad takes on a remote character and is accentuated by lush rolling hills, towering limestone bluffs and trophy smallmouth bass.

We love our home stretches of river and focus most of our efforts on the sections below Asheville due to the quality of the scenery and the fish.

The French Broad is best fished from May until the beginning of October.
